What the HBCU Week Job Fair Is

One Philly HBCU Week runs Monday, Oct. 26 through Saturday, Oct. 31, hosted by the City with the Philadelphia Eagles and community partners. The City's official event lineup lists the College and Job Fair at the Linc on Friday afternoon, and the fair also appears on the City's October career resources calendar.

Deputy Mayor Vanessa Garrett Harley told KYW Newsradio that more than 100 employers are expected. "Some of the companies coming are saying they will hire on the spot," she said. The City has not published an employer list, so walk in ready to talk about more than one kind of job.

The format pairs colleges with employers. WHYY described the week as a chance for prospective college students and job seekers to explore educational and career pathways, so expect HBCU admissions tables alongside recruiters.

A few details were still open when this was published:

  • Registration: The City said registration and ticket details would be shared as they are finalized. Check the lineup page before Friday.
  • Cost: Admission for the fair has not been posted. Ticketmaster tickets are required for the football games, but the City has not said that applies to the fair. Don't assume either way.
  • Entrance and parking: No gate or lot has been announced. Game-day traffic builds on Pattison Avenue and I-95 ahead of the 7 p.m. kickoff, so arrive early. The Broad Street Line ends at the sports complex.
